Dan sinyal SOS pun saya kirimkan pada beberapa teman yang saya anggap karib. Ada yang membantu, meskipun saya tahu teman itu juga sedang mepet, ada yang berbela sungkawa dan ada juga yang kadang membuat joke, yang membuat saya sejenak melupakan beban yang alamak jang beratnya… Dan ada juga yang mengacuhkan saya.
Saya, mungkin terlalu rendah untuk mendapatkan penolakan. Sekedar untuk mendapatkan jawaban tidak, atau penghardikan. Urus sendiri masalahmu! Jangan libatkan saya! Bahkan ketika sudah tiga kali saya meminta bantuan, dan tidak saya hargai cuma-cuma bantuan itu.
Ah, sudahlah… Saya ndak akan meminta lagi. Anjing menggonggong, kafilah tetap berlalu. Cuma, diposisi ini, saya anjingnya. Kalaupun toh saya sudah menggonggong sekuat tenaga, dan sang kafilah tetap berlalu, buat apa saya tetap menggonggong? Buang-buang energi!
